Herrera Province, Panama

The province of Herrera is located in the Azuero Peninsula, approximately a 4-hour drive from Panama City. It is the country's smallest province with an area of only 2,340.7 square kilometers. However it is rich in natural resources: forested parks, ecological beaches, thermal springs, and much more.

In this province they pay homage to traditional folk customs through events like: The Berraquera Carnivals in Chitré, capital of Herrera, the Sugar Cane Festival in Pesé, and the famous Manito Festival in Ocú. All of these festivals are famous for their local flavor.

The province is also well-known for its excellent clay handicrafts found along the streets of Chitré and Parita.

Pre-colonial artifacts and objects from the periods up until Panamanian independence can be found in the small museums of these towns.

Agriculture, the Liquor industry, and Pottery stand out among the economic activities of Herrera Province.
